I frickin LOVE Ruffles and Helluva Good French Onion dip. Should be eaten while blasting "Cool Change" by the Little River Band and embroidering mushrooms on the back pocket of your jeans.
Also: I will bring a wonderful green salad. I can be greens and herbs girl this year, among other things. Watermelon, yes, good idea.
ha! lol.
ea is so bummed she ever sat in judgement and hatred of that splendid little river band song. she is going to have dolphins coming out of her ASS by the time late august comes along.
i will bring the RUFFLES! (and helluva good dip)
over-n-out herb and greens girl.
:) a
I am SO freaking into the ruffles and the dip and the watermelon and the little river band...
Well, not to spread Mim too thin on her chicken (which definitely goes with burrito night!)-- we could do a chicken sausage with peppers & onions instead as a non-pork option? or I have a recipe for spicy smoked grilled chicken with berry sauce or chicken kabobs with mint & garlic that are pretty easy to prep ahead...
Mim Said...(via the anonymous posting tool).
Who knew we had such love for the Ruffle. I love 'em too!
I second whoever suggested that Ho-Down replace grill night. Really, it's just a variation on a theme. Rustic, outdoorsy, cowboy hatsy.
I looove grilling chicken. And I loooove making up new marinades & sauces. So, I guess I'm saying I'd loooove to be the chicken bitch for Hoe-Down and for Burrito night.
Anonymous Mim of the hat-wearing Ruffle lovers, I proclaim you chicken bitch of PH 2010...
Anna Banana, I anticipate the need for LOTS of dip...
i am laughing out loud!
chicken bitch. that RULES!
we need to get you a hat or something.
:)
and wait a second- 2010????
what year is it jjj.
have you been filing out too many forms.?
Count me in on the Ruffles Lust.
No Comment on the Little River Band. You won't believe what's showing up on my ipod when I hit shuffle now...eagles, led zep, john denver...i am so WTF...then i remember mad mix building saturday.
Gingham shirts. Now I have an excuse.
chicken grilling--i think we need to grill fresh for B-Night sunday. Chicken grilled friday will be dried out (and likely nibbled by late night frige monkeys) by Sunday night.
(side note: echoing Jen's note about reducing AM meals...)
Also, horseshoes would be prime. haven't seen them up there, but it is always fun to have a cocktail hour diversion.
QUESTION: Helluva Good French Onion Dip versus Lipton Onion Soup Mix and Sour Cream versus the DIY Cooks Illustrated Version? Just asking.
Yeah!
So, I'm thinking we should clarify when meals are altogether... how bout this?
Friday night Ho-Down
Sat light bfast
Saturday lunch ala bean
Saturday night Tuscan feast
Sunday lt bfast
Sunday night burrito night
Monday AM brunch, using as many leftovers as we can & a lot of eggs & bacon (precooked a bit to cut down on the massive grease)
Monday dinner (again, using up some leftovahs & supplementing with rice or pasta or grill burgers or something easy)
What say ye? Chime in!
Anna-- apparently!! Good grief-- OK, chicken bitch 2009!!!!!
It does look like we have some confusion over placement of Burrito & Tuscan nights--
Saturday or Sunday night...? And should we have the Bean lunch on whichever day is burrito night, since that's a later meal? And the auction-- should be on Tuscan night for the same reason?
my bad about confusing the tuscan night with burrito.
i forgot we switched that last yr! oops.
that makes sense..
(i switched it in the google docs, sorry).
as far as food flow- i personally think its fine to have the bean lunch on the early side sat (before feast) ... one reason is we can use some of that pesto/ mozzerella that's leftover- and then its natural to have some leftovers of both meals on sunday that would work in nice with breakfast ANd lunch sunday.. before burrito night later on sunday.
my 2 c
oh- and DEFINATELY Heluva GOOD dip over lipton. over everything. ppppssshaw!
I'm having pulled pork sandwiches for dinner tonight. Crock pot!
I'm having sushi!!! From YAMA no less (Yummy Yama...)
One thing to note about horseshoes: they create a dirt patch wherever they're tossed, and Nick might not be thrilled with that.
Horse shoes might work in the driveway...
But for a cocktail diversion, how about Bocce? I'll bring my set and read the rules before hand.
I think Jenn's meal list is perfect.
I'm working on a PH mix (summertime banjos and protest).
OK-- must be the Ruffles are receiving a universal comeback-- I was at a birthday picnic today (with BBQ pulled pork, no less) and there was a big bowl of ruffles-- one of the women there said, Ruffle in hand, "don't these remind you of being a kid and summer and really good fun food? I feel like there should be a big vat of onion dip alongside it..."
and kinda they have to be Ruffles. We gotta kick out for name brand for this one.
