Um, literally!

Oh, and I love Smutty but my taste is tending to Shoals over the IPA these days, but that's probably because it's been so damn rainy.. and it's going to be sunny and hot and summer all over at PH2009

I know I could be shot for saying this in this crowd (i'm not a hoppy gal)....

i dont usually partake in the kegerator beer-but I really loved that cold crisp heffeweisen that was on tap at john's place....SOOOO good.
Is is possible to get quarter barrels? maybe we could get one light one to add to the hoppy mix ;)

I also am fond of Red Hook ESB.

Oo-- & yes, we are limited to smaller 1/4 or smaller kegs, so we can get 2-3 choices to get us through the weekend. Way fewer bottles if we find some flavors all will be happy to drink-- sounds like we're gettin' there...

Ea and Chris think i should just FORGET my dreams of a heffeweisen quarter barrel. HOPPY snobs.

should i just get a 12 pack? does anyone else (besides hayley, jjj, john) like it enough to warrant some.

maybe bonus days? if we run of of first keg?

wow JJJ. we posted 1 min apart! i'll be psyched for a latter weekend small keg of heffeweisen (what kind was that that john had?) it was sooo tasty.

I can't object to ONE mini keg of the Hef-Wiez...it's just not that into me. Or I into it. Or it into me. As I said. I can switch to water and bourbon...wait, what book was it where all the women were drinking 'bourbon and branch'? (meaning the local spring water, perhaps? sorry, i digress)

Other than granting the indulgence for the ONE keg of Hef, I vote for a mid-hoppy--pale ale (sierra, shoals, esb, otter creek, kona fire rock, tuckermans or the like.)

not to imply i have spent any time enjoying beer. at all.

OK-- it's sounding like a mid-hop, a light hop & a hefe...? The hef was harpoon. As for the other 2, I'll take the list of inputs and see what Major can get us!

I like Ea's suggestions, except: there were the same number of votes for IPA as there were for Heffe.

I hear there was a good one on tap at John's, but my understanding had been that Heffeweizen beers are supposed to be bottle conditioned, as the sediment is important to the flavor. There are a lot of good bottled options. I like the stuff okay, but it's not something I want to focus on for an whole afternoon/evening. A keg of it sounds daunting.

IPAs, on the other hand, always taste yummier from the keg...

Whatever is decided, though, I don't think we need to be anti-bottles. No need for anyone to be drinking anything they don't love...

Alrighty then! a light, then med hop, and an IPA!

Or maybe get three that are generally acceptable to everyone, and special tastes can be handled independently in bottles. (Or Mim and I can wait until BONUS days to sip the light IPA tastic...)

Well, reviewing the votes, we've really only heard from Mim, Ea, Chris, Hayley, Ross, Me & John. What do Peter, William, Jeff, Palo, Rob like for beer? Anyone know what Jaylin prefers? What does "the beer that pleases everyone" look like? Will everyone enjoy an IPA or a mid-hoppy ale (Smutty Shoals)?
I do think a late weekend Hefe is in order, reviewing the tally thus-far and remembering-- however a Hefe is supposed to be drunk, the way we drank it on tap received rave reviews! Also in agreement with Mark that the goal is to significantly reduce the bottles, not ban them completely-- an afternoon's worth for a couple of people who don't like the Hefe would not be hard on the recyc center. Unless there are more who won't drink the Hefe?
It's too bad we can't get Stella in the 1/4 keg-- I think everyone would drink it. Is there another beer like that?

I think it is important to note that the dedicated Beer Drinkers have weighed in.

William-rarely. Prefers a cocktail or wine. Does drink a mid-hop (Sierra) when he does.

Peter-also reletively rare. Has gone Corona when he does (so lighter fare, I think). Also prefers a stiff one. (mixed drink that is, in this particular circumastance).

Rob-Rare beer. Also on the corona side. usually brings a hard lemonade or the like. Also wine.

Paloma-Corona or...nothing? (beer wise, haven't seen her go elsewhere). What drinking she may so will be cocktails/wine (i suspect, based on most recent outings)

Jaylin--she will be nearly 9 mos pregnant, so no doubt she will be passing this year.

Jeff--beer flexible. Like his sexuality. ba dum ching.

Excellent Breakdown, Ea-- thank you for keeping track of everyone's alcoholic preferences!

So...
A mid hop, an IPA, a hefe for later...

Cool beans?
