One of the things that was higlighted at the Feb meeting was the desire to have an initial check in on Friday night and then have some set times arranged to do some of the group things we talked about, ie a game or a group picture, or even a meal clean up window. I would suggest that we add some space to the end of the spreadsheet to start marking off some times for non-food related activities.
Meal captains, put your 'call time' for your meal team on the spreadsheet (link was in Anna's email from the weekend) and I will include it in the printouts for everyone. It m ight be a little trickier to set a time for cleanup (maybe not?) but our intent was to get the cleanup folks in and out as fast as possible.
As for Friday night gathering, I am getting up late--I probably won't be there before 7pm. Although the role of Friday Night Cheerleader had often fallen to me, I have to ask that someone else step in this year. I know I will be too discombobulated coming in so late.
Also, Paloma made a comment deep on another thread about a possible Skype call in to tie up loose ends...I didn't want that to get lost in case other folks would think that would be a helpful way to check in.

re" friday night- we know you're arriving late- i'm sure we can get supper ready, and since i'll have the tent, i'll set it up. (avery/adele, one using our gray tent? ) can set up too
would it be good to say- at 900 or 930 fri night- lets gather for a quick group-up. i have one teeny 5 min super simple porterhill game that may be a good kick off thing. (write a little trvia something on paper in a hat thing) easy. could be fun.
maybe even a quick go around for all- "one thing i'm bringing, one thing i'm leaving behind" - humorous or meaningful. that might be nice.
for my vote- i think its safe to try for a group game after/around picnic time saturday- for all. (since we'll all be together then)
other than that-? not sure.but those are two times (fri 900 or 930 (after kids down) and sat picnic?
that may work for intentional group time.
thoughts?
thanks ea! xo
als0-who DOES have the bubbles?
and legos? (jenn/stash- can u bring some? )
i am bringing our big box of knex- and also some babysitting money (stash/ avery/adele) for some babysitting favors over the weekend :)
I have some bubble ingredients and a recipe somewhere--but Rob and Paloma have the bulk of the bubble gear that would be great to have on hand. I like the little Friday night mixer idea, Anna: one thing bringing, one thing left behind. And I also agree that a group gathering after arrival is a great thing to have. Thanks for mentioning it and proposing something.
glad you like the idea h. simple and sweet i thought. and a nice way to drop down with each other ;)
arrival. breathe. have a snack. breathe. ... :)
asked palo for bubbles, (had wanted to borrow them for my bday party) but they looked pretty hard and dont have them. (i seem to remember they left them behind one time when they left and we all still wanted to play). so who's got em? bueller.. bueller...?
i suppose we can always buy new stuff. maybe they were left there?
No idea where the bubbles are, but looking forward to blowing them.
The best time to take a group shot is around noon, weather permitting. It's also easiest if there's no wind. So, why don't we aim to take it the first nice noon time we have there. I'll happily be ring leader on this, if you'll happily respond to my gentle pleading when I say "it's time!"
How about Sunday night, post kids for a game of Brazil Hill Werewolf?
M.
It's all sounding very fun!
Stash says he'll put a tub o legos together & I'm bringing some general kid games & toys as well.
