Meals:
Times for meal team start will be noted; times for clean up will be noted; I am adding some basic descriptions to the Self-Serve Sign Up Spreadsheet that will be distributed soon.
Fri Dinner: Potluck. Dish Definition will be on the google spreadsheet to be distributed soon. Will need a protein or two; will need a griller or two-doesn’t have to be one and the same.
Sat: Basic Breakfast. Two folks to put out bagels, cereal, yogurt, milk and turn on the coffee, etc.
*Lunch on own - Sat, Sun and Mon - Although, I am thinking we should still assign a mid-day clean up crew to do a quick sweep of the kitchen, swap out misc dishes, make sure kitchen is ready for dinner crew
Sat: Late afternoon picnic: Comprised of?..leftovers from Fri and....? Need to define and have captains coordinate
Are Later Night Adult Snacks a team or potluck effort?
Sun: Brunch (doesn’t have to be JJJ lead! Just sayin’)
Burrito Night: Usual Team. We know you want it. We know how to deliver it.
Monday: Basic Breakfast (see above for Sat); Lunch on Own;
Since more of us are staying on for Mondays Matter: Dinner coordination was suggested. Big Salad with a) leftover yummies and b) something new defined and a team to pull it together (see SSSUS--Self-Serve Sign Up Spreadsheet if that gig is speaking to you)
Tuesday: Leftover triage to be dealt with as it presents itself or someone steps up? Alternatively, we can assign it to one of the many folks that will be sticking around for the last bonus night.

Yum!
For Saturday afternoon, in the spirit of simplification, how about just good old burgers and dogs and BBQ tofu (or whatever alternative protein folks crave), a couple of salads maybe?
The year of the potluck! I have some homemade spinach triangles in the freezer I'd be happy to bring for cocktail hour if we go that route. I love the idea. I could also bring some homemade mac & cheese for the kids that could be scooped & microwaved at will, if it's wanted.
I'm happy to scramble eggs & do up some bacon for brunch (unless someone has a burning desire to take on brunch, in which case, I can be your sous chef)! I am not the worlds best baker-- anyone want to potluck a couple of baked items, I'd be tickled!
The year of the do-ahead stressless meals... ahh...
Burgers and dogs work, though it would be nice to have something that distinguishes Friday night cookout from Saturday's picnic. Maybe do burgers and dogs Friday and marinaded chicken, beef and vegetables on Saturday.
Also, what about bringing a few pounds of sliced sandwich meat and a few loaves of bread with basic condiments (mayo, mustard, Lipton Brand Ice Tea Mix). Might be good in case of rain, or for lunches Sunday and Monday...
I'm up for captaining Saturday's grill-o-rama. Chicken, beef & veggies sounds splendid.
Cold cuts sounds like a good idea, too. I was a little worried about lunch on my own. Pictured myself fishing for little sunnies down in the pond.
(From Mim, who can't get into the Google account I created last night. Grr)
I was thinking of bringing pre-made pulled pork for the Friday night pot luck-- wasn't thinking of that as burger & dog night, but that works too!
So... burgers & dogs & potluck salad & of course, Ruffle & dip Friday night, beef & chicken & salads Saturday mid afternoon...?
Ok- I apologize in advance- but I'm a bit confused- I do think we need to have clarity about who is doign the shopping for meals and who are the meal captains and we need to have folks for set-up and clean up for all meals (lunch picnic, etc.) (sorry if I am missing something here!)
I will shop for Burrito night and non-frozen snacks as I have in the past unless someone wants a change. We need someone to shop for breakfast items, lunch items, picnic items, brunch items, etc.
I vote for fruit salad for brunch:)
I will bring tabouili salad for Friday potluck and a simple fruit salad. I will probably make ANnie's for Quinn.
Korean chicken tacos for Sat. afternoon. Great simple recipe in the NY Times this week.
wow hayley--that sounds awesome!
I'm a little lost-- can we clarify?
I thought we were doing burgers & dogs Friday night & potluck sides, then BBQ with beef & chicken & veggies on Saturday afternoon?
Hayley-- did you mean to put down the yummy sounding tacos for Saturday or Friday?
Friday night we wanted to make dinner fast & easy so we could get to socializing & openers, yes?
perhaps the confusion about sat meal is partly that we've talked about sat afternoon/early eve as a bbq but also a picnic.
dont know if this helps, but i recall- when we talked at one point, a sense of laying out blankets- and having easy foods - perhaps cold grill meats, watermelon, cold cuts, simple salad, foods that are easy to lay out. a tuscan feast "lite"- fostering togetherness in an outdoor spot without lugging so many chairs. :)
i'm hoping to take a pass on co-captaining this sat meal, and psyched to take on, with a co-captn- 'mondays matter' dinner. seeing what we've got and working with it. i always liked that frig re-organization and utilization.
without jeff lori/ (too bad they wont be there this yr)i i think we'll be needing some of the jeff/lori staples, (wraps/ pesto/mozz balls, plates, etc) so just something to remember.
also- ea, lets talk wine, and call the guy from brattleboro wine shop for a variety of reds/whites on a budget. we dont mind stopping in brattle for that if helpful (i know youll have more stops/ adele, etc) and max benefits from stops along the way.
xo
palo- can u include some annies for max too fri? he likes it now. believe otis is a fan too. Thanks. seems like we should have more of annies on hand :) a good staple.
i just looked at the meal plan and looks like fri/sat are coming along with offerings ;)

I feel like we have a few differing ideas still about what's going on for meals-- i don't want to muck up the works, so I'm adjusting our spreadsheet contributions to match what I remember from our discussion. If any captains would like me to bring anything at all or adjust what I'm offering to bring, I'll be very happy to oblige!
I'm in with Anna for co-captain for Sunday brunch-- we'd love a third to help out that morning (no experience necessary!).
What I remember for meal objectives:
Friday night-- fast & easy potluck so we can all gather faster.
Sat big meal-- earlier in the day, family-friendly picnic (thanks for offering to captain this Mim!)
Sat night-- adult cocktails, snacks
(regardless of what happens for food Sat night, we need a crew to sweep through the kitchen & make it ready for early morning brunch beginnings Sunday-- I've added cleanup back to the spreadsheet for Sat. night)
Sun--Brunch, Yay burrito night
Mon-- lite bfast, dinner is captains' choice (thanks Anna & Palo!)
thanks jjj.
i dont know yet if palo wants to cocaptn mon night- but she's certainly on crew. peter, any interest? you always seem to be cooking up a feast on monday/tues... :)
Ah-- gotcha.
I've started the list of "common items" at the bottom of Ea's spreadsheet (so we don't end up with 16 bottles of ketchup, 3 maple syrups, etc). I'm putting down things I'm bringing from my kitchen that I have plenty of--
--And I've got mozarella & pesto on my list (got a bunch of basil last week from the CSA that was speedily converted to 2 tubs of Ea-friendly pine nut pesto...
Is there any possibility of having a phone confernce or "skype conference" to simplify at this point??- I am finding it hard to keep up efficiently.
Sure-- I can phone in-- when?
i'm not sure how to rig a conference call of that size, but i'm game :)
