Sleeping Arrangements: Calculus PH101

While some folks seem perfectly at ease reclining wherever the opportunity may present itself to a creative soul...

And others seem to not even require a space in which to lay down in order to catch some zzz's...

It does seem nice to stake claim to a little bit of space within the broader communal living in which to corral a little one for the evening, engage in some tandem napping, store your fencing equipment, mandolin, werewolf costume, clean underwear, and what-have-you, or just plain have a quiet lie-down in peace.

Shall we begin talks of sleeping arrangements?

Rooms:

5 Rooms Upstairs:
corner double
small double
double double
double singles
architect suite
hall couch

2 Rooms Downstairs:
Queen
doube singles
study (preferred to stay as a study)

BATs? Are these available & coming again this year?

Folks thus far:
Palo, Rob, Quinn
Hayley, Mark, Otis
Anna, Chris, Max
Ea
Tawnee
Avery
Mim
John, Jenn, Stasha
Peter
William

What's everyone need/want? With whom are you willin' to bunk? Chime in!

John, Jenn & Stash:
Ideal-- 1 room for J&J, a place to crash inside for Stash.
Need-- place for 2 in a BAT or a bedroom, with a couch or floor pace for Stash inside if he gets sick of camping in his tent.

2 BAT's are coming. I claim one and the other is up for grabs. Avery will either crash with me or will bring our backpacking tent for himself.

I still have such fond memories of how nicely decked out my tent was last year...it was such a treat!!

The three of us, plus Nettie, need a room, but we've had the Architect's Suite a couple years running, and are fine with one of the other doubledouble rooms upstairs.

hi all- thanks for whoever posted this. i was thinking about it too. the last few yrs we had the little double in the corner, when max was a baby- or the queen room downstairs- which has worked really well for us. if avail- I'd vote for the queen downstairs- as max wakes up still at night (little fucker)- but i'd feel better if he could just walk out, find somebody- instead of waking up yelling- or fall down the steps etc. he's still not great with steps. thank you

Anna banana! Is Max in with you to sleep, or does he need separate space?

JennyJJ said...

Here's why I ask-- if Max is in with you (or else, you are all three in 2 rooms upstairs), everyone who hasn't already committed to camping has a space indoors:
Doubledouble-- MHO
Architect--RPQ
Up single single-- Peter & William & Millie
Corner double--J&J
Small double--Mim/Tawnee
Queen--ACM
Single single--Mim/Tawnee, possibly Jaylin

In this scenario, if Jeff & Lori showed up, they could have the larger double, if Mim & Tawnee were willing to share the single single, everyone still fits & we have an extra BAT for donkeys and/or crafting or whatever...(or just not haulin' of the extra BAT)

Thanks so much for bravely broching and gracefuly calculating all this JJJ!

The room we had last year actually worked fine for us (the double double) and we would be happy to stick with that and MHO+N can have the architect suite- either way is great for us thank you!.

Stash m'gosh would like to claim the upstairs couch for sleepin' upon-- any objections? He does not mind being awoken at whatever time of morning.

Anna B said...

thanks- and yes- max does stay with us on a blow up twin on the floor. thank you! xo

Well, b'gosh, I think that might have been the easiest tetris of the people ever. Here's what I'm reading, please feel free to object, rearrange or whatever...

Up:
Architect suite: MHON
2 Doubles: PRQ
2 singles: P&W&M
Corner double: J&J
Couch: Stash m'gosh
Small Double: M or T

Down:
Queen: ACM
2 Singles: M or T

BAT 1: E&A
BAT 2: OPEN (WTF?)

Am I forgetting someone I love???????? It can't be this easy...

thanks jjj...confirmed for peter and i on the upstairs single/single

JennyJJ said...

Yay-- Mim is confirmed for the downstairs w/ 2 singles.

Maybe this is like Christopher Alexander - JJJ has found the morphogenisis of Porter Hill. The natural growth pattern of our community that has alluded us for the last few years. Beautiful job, JJJ.

JennyJJ said...

Thanks, Honey, but I don't think i can claim any credit for this-- this groovy configuration brought to you by the natural grace of the people...

Wow. I'm so glad this has been worked out so well.

I am going to bring a tent and hope for gorgeous sunny days and warm, dry nights!

JennyJJ said...

Amen, sister-- but if the heavens prove to have their own non-PorterHillian agenda, there's room for ye in of doors as well. (for everyone, actually, if we're clever)
... and we pretty much ARE, I think...

i talked with jaylin yesterday and she didnt mention a room or anything- but hopes to join us on sunday/sunday night. (maybe a 2nd night- but she didnt say). she has big plans catering on saturday (including a big event in cummington/fundraiser which includes rachel maddow) :)
she has tented before, but we can share for an inside nap place if needed. i think i am reading that if tawnee camps, the small double upstairs will be open- is that right?

glad this all worked out so well.

Yeah! I was going to put Stash in there since it was open, but we'll kick him out onto the couch Sunday and change the sheets for Jay-- so glad she's coming! There's also still a second bed in Mim's room if by some miracle of miracles Jeff & Lori also decide to come & need a double upstairs-- any word from them?
