Time to get the piles going on the porch and think about car-Tetris again. Has there been silent auction discussion? I can go either way. I wouldn't be heart-broken to discontinue the tradition and eliminate one "got to get this done" thing from our time, but it's also a nice creativity showcase, something that kids enjoy, and it earns $ the helps us all in some way, even if it's just redistributing the bill. Thoughts?

I am sincerely behind and have nothing fun or creative to offer, but will happily figure something out if auction happens (perhaps breakfast in bed makes a re-appearance or something)

How do we feel about kiddoes having 1-2 chores each?
Please and yes
o wait, i don't official have a kiddo anymore. but i am an advocate for child contributions
Yes, I agree with kids having chores. My kid, anyway.
Yes to chores for kids!
I'm always a fan of the (lite) silent auction for adults = we do have a few things... lets keep it simple, not over-consuiming, but if anything grabs you and/ or you want to offer a service. (chris- i think you should do more tarot readings!) My opinion is that we are a creative bunch, and it can be nice. if its too late and you dont have anything- no problem! lets keep it lihgt- but if you do- bring it, we often raise hundreds of dollars and people get some interesting or special (or random) things. i'll bring silent auction bidding sheets just in case and we can find a time that it will not disrupt (and keep time frame short like last year. :)
For kids- last year we had maybe 20 or so random things for kids which we did in a small time limited way in the kitchen. i dont mind doing this again- it seemed fun for them and as it was part way through the week - it provided them with some new diversions for play, etc. I think this can be VERY BASIC. no-one go crazy. (i have 4 indiv bubble wands, and Max would actually like to bring a toy or two for this (recycling not buying!) a game perhaps we dont use, etc. If others want to bring a small something to bid on- for kids- go for it.) THAT'S MY VOTE anyways and i'm happy to take the lead as the coordinator. (or one of them) xo
I think the silent auction is nice, and the kids certainly love it (agree about keeping it simple).
Agreed on chores for kids. Have signed Quinn up for a couple.
OK--nice to have your thoughts. We'll bring some stuff and keep children/new activities in mind.
This all sounds great! Can definitely find something to contribute! Am also a big fan of having kids help with chores long as they are assigned a mentor to help ensure the task is completed as well and thoroughly as we do need it to be ;-)

I agree JJJJ-Max is on one breakfast set up along with me. i was thinking about a junior Campwalker or House Walker.. going around WITH someone and picking up assorted dishes, balls, supplies, etc would be a good youth task i think...
yes, store run is another good one, I'm willing to supervise
